In this strip we can see a little boy, Calvin, handing back a book to his mother. He thanks her for borrowing him the book, and says that he has liked it. Right after she asks him what did he think of it and he begins to say that the book has given him a new way of seeing things, a different type of understanding of his life, and that has given him a lot to think about. She then just coments how happy she is that he liked it and he goes on rambling about how he sees now how complicated his life really is and how he doesn't understand it anymore. This comic strip is supposed to be funny, and the fact that a small child like Calvin has read a book and been deeply changed by it is an overdramatic view of what books really do to us. They are truly meant to make us see things differently and understand better our lives, but also to make us question normal things and have different views of the world. It is impossible not to be influenced and changed after reading any book. They give us new perspectives.
