Pareti della cosa*

Walls of books are something that I discovered recently and fell in love with. One of this walls is even here in Italy, and now that I found it out, I'm planing on visiting it.
Basically, this concept consists of using books as a decoration of the walls and, therefore, to give a different personality to the place in question. This examples below are some of the amazing places I that I found with this beautiful book walls.

Wall of books, Palazzo Toschi Mosca, inner court
Pesaro, Italy

This wall of books is in Pesaro, in Italy, and is located inside a court of Palazzo Toschi Mosca. This structure was part of the scenography of Stefano Lazaridis, conceived for the Moïse et Pharaon staged at the Rossini Opera Festival 1997, directed by Graham Vick.

De Batavier, De Alliantie and HVDN Architects
Lootsstraat, Amsterdam

De Batavier is the name of this artistic instalation, a façade design composed by ceramic and brick, and is a library consisting of approximately 250 unique ceramic books. This wall of books is located in a street of Lootsstraat, Amsterdam, in a neighbourhood where streets are named after Dutch poets and writers from the 18th and 19th century. Each book carries the title of a poem from one of the poets or a drawing from the famous 18th century type book by Johan Enschede. This project, commissioned by the housing organization De Alliantie and HVDN Architects from Amsterdam, is realised through close collaboration with the ceramist P.Kemink and graphic designers Melle Hammer and Susanne Laws.

Library book wall,
Deakin University - Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus

Waurn Ponds, Australia

This is a staircase to a library in Deakin University in Australia. It is located in Pigdons Road, in Waurn Ponds and is part of the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus. As it leads to a library, it made sense for the designers and architects responsible for this interior design to fill the walls with books, giving it a more welcoming and cozy look, but also refering to the nature of this place itself.
The architects responsible for this instalation are from the company Six Degrees and, with this work, won in 2012 the award Lyons Construction, Master Builders of Victoria, South West Region Commercial Builder of the Year.
