La sintesi finale

Everything that's good comes to an end, and that is no exception for this blog.

Books can be just simple everyday objects, but now for me they're so much more... It all started with its name, beautiful and simple as it is, of course it had an equaly interesting story behind it, namely the similarity among languages and its unchanging original form.

Then, to better understand how it all began, we went on a trip through time, and started to better understand how they appeared, time travelling back to the first books ever. Then, while analysing its background story, it was possible to define charactheristics of the book's known phisic structure, and allowed to grow insight into the processes of its manufacturing and production, adapted to the industry. With the growth of the book's production, they started to be a common object among people, leading to massive production and, consequently, a bigger competition between producers, with let to the need of innovate and patent the various types of books.

But, as one might expect, you can't judge a book by its cover, so the next step had to be an exploration into the various types of literary content that this object may portray. At this point it was easy to find all sort of book themes and subjects, and have fun discovering books in which the book itself was the main topic. This led also to the opportunity to get acquainted with many types of narratives, identifying science fiction narratives and, laughing through the many strips of comics, with a special emphasis on the hilarious Calvin and Hobbes, and even scrolling through so may brilliant authors and works, highlight J. K. Rowling, who is among the most influenciable ones, whose books are the reason many modern days youngsters started reading in the first place.

As a result of such a huge development in the books market, with their many different types and forms, there was also a following increase of the number of libraries and bookstores. Looking from early years to modern times, we were able to find the biggest libraries ever, and even one of the most fascinating ones.

Going further into this exploration, it was possible to detach the book's symbolism to literature, and connect it to many other areas, namely the music but also in the figurative arts. Searching deeper into the book's usage, was also possible to come across beautiful and creative sculptures or art works, such as the artistic instalation of "Books that read you" or its decorative usage in architecture, as shown in the walls of books, that can be found in amazing, yet less known, cities around the world.

Apart from this "architectural" usage, books can also be found as objects of design. Not only as interior decorations, such as its use as vases, but could also be found as part of simple objects as stamps. Moreover, its application in graphic design symbols stimulated its employment in several markting and advertising campaigns.

Furthermore, they became study targets for testing influence that reading might have on people, leading to the highlighting of important numbers related to the book industry and story.

All this research was made possible by the intensive internet exploration, but also by many books. In addition, with all this new acquired knowledge, it was even conceivable to get a different word for each letter of the ABC that was connected to the book itself.

Making this blog was an unmatchable experience, a new way of learning and analysing an especific object, and an investigation that I enjoyed deeply to conduct.
